This is a site refresh for Manningham Concrete – One of the largest independent builders merchants in the Yorkshire area.
The customer approached me wanting a new design to replace the old website that had been done some years ago by another company. He wanted a fresh new look and also wanted the new website to be more manageable internally so people at the company could update content themselves and expand the site over time – with new offers and so forth.
Joomla was employed as the best candidate for the Content Management System (CMS) – due to the large structure of the site and to allow for future expansion.
This allows users at Mannigham Concrete to create new pages, upload images, edit existing pages and generally always keep the site up-to-date with news, offers and much more.
The site was designed to be minimal and clean for the trade and building sections, but also attractive for the more consumer driven sections such as the showroom. Manningham Concrete have an extensive showroom covering Kitchens, Bathrooms, Bedrooms, Appliances and Sinks etc.. and wanted to make the new site showcase the showroom areas to show new customers exactly what they could offer.
You can see an example of the showrooms area below:
As the existing site had a number of pages already indexed by Google and other search engines a technique called a 301 Redirect was employed on the existing pages indexed so if the old page name comes up in a search – rather than going to an Error Page (404 – Page Not Found) – the page will resolve to the new page created.
The site also makes use of an commercial backup plug-in to ensure that when new content is created – backups of the site structure and underlying database can be done at the click of a button – rather than the manual (quite complicated for a novice
) user method. This can also be set to backup at set times.
The site is now in a position to benefit from advanced SEO techniques to allow for greater exposure to the search engines for targeted keywords.
Many of the photographs on the site were also taken by myself using a Nikon D200 Digital SLR – other photographs were supplied by the respective manufacturers.
WebDoggy also worked closley with Manningham Concretes Design & Print Company – A-Lure on various graphics and generating ideas for the new site – you can visit the A-Lure website here to view the services they have on offer.
